[Sept 13th 2013]

Thank you to all the riders, guests, children and organizing staff that participated in this years 2013 Rocky Mountain GS Challenge. A full house was on hand to experience the splendor of the Alberta Rocky Mountains on one of the best weather weekends we could hope for. Mother nature provided the playground for what I think was our best GS Challenge yet. We have received much positive feedback from the event and wanted to thank you all for your testimonials and kind words.

We would also like to Congratulate Matt Wareing, this years winner of the Rocky Mountain GSChallenge, Matt will be joining Quebec’s winner Patrice Glaaude and the Ontario GS Challenge winner, Cory Hanson representing Canada at the 2014 GSTrophy.

We are putting a DVD together hi-lighting the weekend and ask that you send in your pictures to the e-mail address below in the hopes they make the DVD.

A little over 9 weeks before we kick off the Third Annual Rocky Mountain GS Challenge, and it’s time for a bit of an update.   This years Challenge will mirror last years with a few new twists thrown in.  The feedback from last year was great, and as always we welcome any feedback you have to make future events better.   The trail ride section will be at Hummingbird Recreation again,  for those that rode it last year, I’m sure you will agree “it’s worth another look”.  Don’t forget to bring your camera as you will have huge regrets if you don’t.   We want to keep the same philosophy year after year, which is to provide you with an excellent weekend of riding, but more importantly, a feeling of accomplishment and pride knowing that you have pushed yourselves and your bikes to the edge of your comfort level and possibly beyond.

Those of you who are riding with us from Argyll Mororrad in Edmonton to the Base Camp on the morning of the 24th, please note; we are  meeting at the store at 7:00 a.m for an Continental breakfast departing @ 8:00 a.m.  Please don’t be late as we have a busy day planned for you.

We are also at this time looking for volunteers to help out with the Individual and Challenge events on Friday Afternoon and Saturday morning as well as people to man important intersections during the afternoon trail rides. If you have another person joining you for the GS Challenge who is not riding, we would like to hear for you, please contact us at thankyou@argyllmotorsports.comso we may make arrangements.

We still have spots available so if you know anyone that you think would enjoy this type of event.make sure they sign up right away..

Below this message you will find a map to the Location of the base Camp, as well as GPS Coordinates for those of you who have GPS Units, as well as a link to Google Maps also showing the location.

We look forward to seeing all of you in August, we have done as much as we can to ensure that this will be a memorable event for all involved, we hope that Mother Nature will do her part and ensure the weather is on our side.

Please take note that Saturday we will be spending the majority of the day riding, as such it is highly recommended that each rider not only ensure they have water with them (Camel back or similar hydration system), but also a light snack for when you are out on the trail system.

[Aug. 22nd 2011]

After the success of the 2011 GSChallenge, we are pleased to announce that the 3nd annual Rocky Mountain GS Challenge will take place Aug. 24th – 26th 2012.

Well, the 2011 GSChallenge was a big success, and although the event is over the work for us had not yet finished, we have photo’s to sort, gear to clean, and enough dust in our riding gear to keep us busy for weeks. However we felt that of all the photo’s we have so far the group photo we took at Ram Falls needed to be posted up for everyone to see and enjoy.  If you click on the HERE it will open up to a much (MUCH) larger version so give it a bit of time to load. Check back often for updates, and please don’t forget to send us your comments on the ‘Testimonials’ page and let us know your thoughts on the event, and please feel free to let us know how we can improve…

[July 7th 2011]

A little over 6 weeks before we kick off the Second Annual Rocky Mountain GS Challenge, and it’s time for a bit of an update. Our team has been busy scouting trails and locations for this years event.  We listened to your views from last year and while very positive in general we kept hearing “less Team Challenges…more riding”!!!  With new trails to ride this year  (Yellow, Blue and Black) and a GPS Scavenger hunt planned to replace the Team Challenges, we are confident this years GS Challenge will eclipse last years. Which if you were lucky enough to join us … is hard to do.  We wanted to keep the same philosophy as last year, which is to provide you with an excellent weekend of riding, but more importantly, a feeling of accomplishment and pride knowing that you have pushed yourselves and your bikes to the edge of your comfort level and possibly beyond.

Those of you who are riding with us from Argyll Mororrad in Edmonton to the Base Camp on the morning of the 19th, please note; we are  meeting at the store at 7:00 a.m for an Continental breakfast departing @ 8:00 a.m.  Please don’t be late as we have a busy day planned for you.

Sept 03rd 2010:

After the success of the First Annual Rocky Mountain GSChallenge we would like to take a moment to congratulate everyone who participated in the event. We hope that you share our feelings that, with the exception of a little rain, the weekend was an enjoyable and memorable experience. Our intent for the GSChallenge is not just to promote BMW Motorcycles, but to bring together Motorcycle riders from Western Canada for an enjoyable weekend of off-road riding in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

I would like to thank my team again for their contribution and I know that they share my feelings of pride and of success making this event what it was. And that all riders, GS or not, left with a feeling of accomplishment having succeeded in the challenges and trail rides that were presented to them.

We are pleased to announce after discussions with BMW Canada and BMW Head Office in Munich, Pat Horan (The Winner of the 2010 Rocky Mountain GSChallenge) will be off to South Africa this November to be part of Team Canada in the GS Trophy.

Congratulations once again to Pat on his victory at the GSChallenge, and to everyone who participated. We hope that all of your future riding experiences with us are as memorable, and look forward to seeing many (if not all) of you again in 2011 for our next GSChallenge.

Registration for the 2011 GS Challenge will be posted shortly. As we expect the spots to fill up quickly, we will forward you all an update as soon as registration is available on our website.

Ride Safe, and thank you all.

Rick Fleury

A little over a month before we kick off the First Annual Rocky Mountain GS Challenge, and it’s time for a bit of an update. Our team has been busy scouting trails and locations for the event’s and we believe that we have found not only an excellent location to hold the Individual and Team Challenge event’s, but also three (Yellow, Blue and Black) trails which will present to each group of riders an excellent ride and more importantly a feeling of accomplishment and pride knowing that they have pushed themselves and their bikes to the edge of their comfort level and possibly beyond.

There have been a few changes to the current agenda, most notably is the earlier departure time for those of you who are riding with us from Argyll Mororrad in Edmonton to the Base Camp, please note; we are now meeting at 7:00 a.m at Argyll for an Continental breakfast departing @ 8:00, not meeting at 8:00 for breakfast leaving at 9:00 as previously stated. See the Agenda for the updated message!

We are also at this time looking for volunteers to help out with the Individual and challenge events on Friday Afternoon and Saturday morning as well as people to man important intersections during the afternoon trail rides. If you have another person joining you for the GS Challenge who is not riding, we would like to hear for you, please contact us at info@rockymountaingschallenge.ca so we may make arrangements.

[May 6th 2010]

Hello All,

Well, only 4 1/2 months away from what will be the biggest Enduro event of the year. Excitement is growing as participation is nearing capacity at 100 riders. The site is booked and has accommodation for approximately 16 RV’s and up to 50 tents. For those that wish to camp at OUR site (Base Camp), we ask that you show up Friday morning Aug 13th and register at the office. I’m certain we can accommodate all those that wish to tent at our site, those that have RV’s we will deal with on a “first come” basis. Prices will range from $10/night (tent) to $20/night (RV). Further to our site, there is: http://www.outwestcamping.com which is only 1km away which has many more RV opportunities if we cannot accommodate those at our site. They have agreed to let us use their showers for the event. If we are full and Outwest is full when you arrive, we are confident you will find accommodations for your RV in the area as there are many other campgrounds nearby. For those who wish to stay at a hotel in Rocky Mountain House, you may want to book early to ensure your reservation. Base Camp is about a 30 minute ride South West on #752 from Rocky Mountain House.

Don’t worry if you want to ride a different trail system than your teammates! For the trail ride section of the Challenge, teams of three will be picked based on which color trail you feel most comfortable when you get there. You will meet up with your group later as you compete in the “team challenge”. No worry’s if you don’t have a team when you arrive at the Challenge, we will prepare a team for you! It is recommended but not required to install DOT knobby tires on your bike. We recommend the “Continental TKC 80 or Metzeler Karoo”. Stock dual purpose tires will be fine for the yellow trail, but for the blue or black we highly recommend the Knobby’s. If you wish to have the knobby’s installed by our service department, mention to them that you are a GS Challenge participant and we will offer you a “special deal” on the tires and installation. Please book this in advance to ensure we can accommodate your request.

If you have registered on line but not yet paid…please do so immediately or we will not be able to hold your spot any longer. Call Greg @780 435-6811 or contact him at greg@argyllmotorsports.com

If you know of anyone that is interested in coming, please encourage them to sign up immediately as we are nearing capacity.

It’s sure to be a great weekend of riding……with a few surprises thrown in!
